Lone Star Rail District works with partners to close-out the EIS

Triggered by a letter from Union Pacific Rail Road in February 2016,
which notified Lone Star Rail of their intention to withdraw from a
Memorandum of Understanding with the Rail District, the Capital Area
Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Alamo Area Metropolitan
Planning Organization both removed the Lone Star Rail project from their
metropolitan transportation plans.  As a result, the Federal Highway
Administration issued a Notice of Intent to Rescind the authorization to
move forward with the Environmental Impact Statement process.  As such,
the EIS is now being closed-out.  This close-out process will include
the wrap-up and transfer of all documents and data developed for the
project.  It is the hope of Lone Star Rail that this data can be used in
projects that will promote mobility solutions along the Austin- San
Antonio travel corridor.
